YOUTH

Were did the month of May go?  It seems like just yesterday we were planning for May, and now we are planning for June with plenty of fun things to do. May was a great month for our Youth Group. We had planned a cook out for the teenagers and due to rain and rising waters at the Prucha’s home we decided to postpone the cook out. The rescheduling for the cook out has yet to be done. On May 22nd we had a pre-teen movie night and had 12 people show up. We had a great time watching Bed Time Stories and singing songs. May 30th we had a fishing trip to celebrate the starting of VBS and we had 23 people attend with all having a great time.  I would like to thank Stanley and Mary Hyde for allowing us to fish on their land.

VBS was a great success. What made it so great was that Dan got his head shaved by Blake Scott for bringing the most.  And yes the Youth Intern got his head shaved as well.  I can’t name all the kids that shaved my head because about 15 took a turn. We all had a blast.

In June we have a lot of events planned.  For the younger kids on June 20th we have a trip to Oklahoma City to the Science Museum and to the Zoo. We are really looking forward to having fun on this trip. For the older kids we are going to be doing some service projectsJ. The Elders and I feel it is important for our older youth to begin to learn that while church can be fun, we also must learn to serve one another.  So we are going to be mowing this summer for the some of the elderly members of the church.  I know it doesn’t sound fun but it’s something we need to do and we will make it fun.  On June 27th we are going to the Checotah bowling alley for an afternoon of bowling. Also during the week of June 22nd we will be attending the Northtown VBS and should also be looking forward to that.

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit,[a] in faith, in purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)

God Bless
